Bretonnians vs. Dark Elves

The Dark Elves are a weak army overall, with high cost for troops, and a relatively low effectiveness for that cost.  Even Witch Elves accompanied by the Cauldron of Blood can be useless if charged first by any unit of knights.  The important thing to go for is the mage and the bolt throwers.  I hate bolt throwers, and you'll see me say it again in the High Elf section too.  It's a damn good thing they're 100 points each, because they are extremely cost effective.  (And that's BAD for the Bretonnians).  The Lady's Blessing is a must.  You don't need 40 crossbow bolts potentially flying at your knights because they are too expensive to lose even one before hand-to-hand.  The Lady's Blessing will essentially cut that down to half, as it will the amount of bolt thrower fire you suffer.

So, missile portection is down. The next thing is magic.  You don't have a sorceress, what do you do?  Get anti-magic items and heroes in your army!  Dispel scrolls are priceless to get rid of spells effectively.  They are definitely worth the 25 points.  Also, if you have a hero mounted on a flying creature, that's the first thing to go for.

Ignore the general.  Destroy him by breaking and running down the unit he is in.  There will be probably two relatively large units of h-t-h fighters, concentrate everything on them first.  Once they're gone, everything else follows.  Make sure to disable the bolt throwers too, they are dangerous to the Bretonnian army.  Remember that if your enemy has mostly missile troops, hoping to wear you down, eventually they'll have to fight h-t-h.  Once the battle gets that far, that's when the Dark Elves crumble.

All in all, the Dark Elves should not be a major tactical problem.  Get into h-t-h as soon as possible, and disable their magic and missile fire.  Once that's done, they can say goodbye to victory.
